Turner Jones
Music has always been an important part of Turner’s life. Some of his earliest memories involve singing and dancing to the Backstreet Boys with his very musical older sisters and lap-drumming with his Dad in the car while listening to Jackson Browne and other great bands and artists. This early love would lay the foundation for many musical endeavors, spanning a variety of genres and levels of involvement. In high school, Turner was active in choir, musical theatre, and marching band.
Continuing his pursuit of music, Turner earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from University of Delaware, concentrating in choral and general music. From 2012-2015, he sang with the prestigious UD Chorale, which included performances at the ACDA National Conference (Dallas, 2012) as well as singing with the lab choir for the first Delaware Choral Academy in Aix-en-Provence, France (2014). While at UD, Turner also performed in many productions with UD Opera Theatre, including Adamo’s Little Women (Gideon March) and Puccini’s La bohéme (Alcindoro, U/S Colline). Additionally, he performed in UD’s Resident Ensemble Players production of Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera(Beggar/Gangster).
Since graduating from UD, Turner has taught and directed a variety of groups, both in schools and the community. This included teaching beginner strings and directing String Orchestra and Choir in Appoquinimink School District (Townsend Elementary and Meredith Middle School) and directing high school choir and overseeing the chapel worship team at Red Lion Christian Academy. Currently, Turner sings with the Joyful Community Choir, serving as an Assistant Director for the men, as well as serving weekly on his church’s worship team. He is also a featured member of a local band called uppercaseLOWERCASE. His favorite endeavor is anything that involves his brilliant and beautiful wife and their three adorable daughters.
Turner’s experience of performance and private teaching includes vocal work in a variety of genres (classical/opera, musical theatre, pop/rock), guitar, bass guitar, and drums.
