Desperate to Get Out!
Trusting Jesus to Lead Me Through
I stood still gazing blindly toward a camera that no one could see.
For 30 years of my working life my career was in the corporate legal world as a legal assistant and then a paralegal. For the first 10 years I worked for a business in the legal division in what was called in-house law in mergers and acquisitions -- It was fast paced and I found it to be very interesting. Fast forward to the last 10 years of my career -- I worked for a law firm in corporate litigation although I had no experience in that field. I reluctantly took the position because corporate paralegal jobs in Delaware were hard to find and the travel from Delaware to Philadelphia could, at times, be a nightmare. From day one on the new job I had a feeling that working in litigation was not going to be what I thought it would be. It made me very uncomfortable.
Should I stay? Should I go? God spoke to my heart and told me to stay. I didn't understand why He would want me to be in a situation where daily yelling, screaming, stress and fear would be the norm.
One day, a thought came to mind that I couldn't shake -- to retire early and devote myself to serving at Cornerstone. I prayed on that thought. I claimed that thought. No matter what, I was not giving up! With each work day situations became increasingly unpleasant....and then the time came when I understood why God wanted me to stay at the firm -- in His time, not mine, He would answer my prayer. On March 1, 2019 ( retirement date) and March 19, 2019 (starting day at Cornerstone) I was given a newness of life and I am so blessed and thankful! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Lord!
Romans 6:4 tells us, "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." God loves you!
