You Snooze. You Lose.
Wake up to New Life in Christ!

One nightmare every pastor may have is being late for a wedding. I have to confess that has never happened to me--Yet! I would be mortified if it did.

“You snooze. You lose,” may not be the most polite way to tell someone they slept through a critical event, but it is a biblical idea.

“Wake up, Sleeper! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you!” (Ephesians 5:14)

Don’t snooze and miss out on the life that God has for you in Christ, Jesus. Wake up and realize your need for God every day and find life through faith in Jesus, our Savior.

Here's a prayer that you might pray with me:

Spiritual Awakenings

Renewing and refreshing God,
How desperately your children need to be awakened from their sleep!

As I look around me in my world, so many people live in darkness: They have no concern for their need of you, are satisfied in their sins, content in their brokenness, and arrogant in their self-centered complacency.
But they are not really alive, God, not as you want them to be.

They are really dead and blind, with no power to be who you have created them to be, no senses to discern your dream and vision for their lives. They seem to be in a deep, deep sleep.

Wake them up, God. Help them to see what is real and what is illusion.

Help them to see who they are and to whom they really belong.

Help them to reclaim their true identity as your children, as creatures who have your image woven into their humanity, who are partakers of your own divine nature, who can be changed inwardly, born again, and renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

May they hear your still small voice within, O Lord, and awaken in faith to the promises that are theirs in Christ.

To all who awake and arise, you promise the Light.
You promise to dwell—to set up your home—in our hearts.
You promise liberation from sin through the gift of your Holy Spirt who comes into our lives, filling us with love.
You promise not only the form of godliness but the power that makes us truly righteous, winsome, loving, and pure.

Awaken us all by the truth and simplicity of your good news which is proclaimed in your promises to every human being, that we might feel the spirit of Christ in us and among us, singing in our heart that we are the children of God.
Amen.
