You Are an Amazing Gift!
What Are Gifts For?
Do you realize how gifted you are?
God has purpose for everyone. It is a purpose that is empowered by the Holy Spirit who gives good gifts to each of us.
“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” (1 Corinthians 12:7)
All the gifts are given so that we can help each other. Here is a list of some of those gifts. Which do you think God has given you?
- Counsel others with wisdom
- Know spiritual things before others do
- Great faith in God
- Ability to heal others
- Power to perform miracles
- Ability to speak with God’s authority and insight
- Ability to discern truth from lies
- Ability to speak and interpret languages
The Holy Spirit gives these abilities when we trust Jesus with our lives and serve him. The gifts are not for our benefit. Instead, they are to benefit others so that all people may experience God’s life-changing love.
How do you get these gifts? Like all gifts, the Giver decides when and what gift is given. However, we do need to be willing to receive God’s gift. We also can refuse it. This weekend we’ll talk about how we each can know our gifts and how we can use them.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are the Giver of every good gift. Thank You for Jesus who leads us to You with open arms. Help us be open and willing to receive Your gifts, then help us use them for the good of others in Jesus’ name. Amen.
