Weekly Newsletter January 26

I’m old enough to remember former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach. Someone asked him once, "How do you keep on keeping on if you're playing professional football?" 

Roger said: "If you're not playing hurt, you're not playing football."

I do not like that message, but I need to hear it. 

Life itself is like that. We all experience hurts and pains. However, growth always involves some kind of pain or difficulty. I don't like that reality, but it's true. As followers of Jesus, we boldly trust the One who is the Healer, Comforter, Teacher: Jesus, the One from God who forgives us and restores all things. Even when we hurt, we persevere with His strength, encouragement, and in Him we are healed.

Paul gives great encouragement to his friend Timothy when he says “You, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all evil things. Pursue righteousness and godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” You can read that in 1 Timothy 6:11
 
I invite you to join me and many this weekend to celebrate God’s love and power. With your hope in Jesus, YOU are a man or woman of God. He strengthens us to continue, to grow, and to persevere. Let's gather this weekend to urge one another on!
