"Never Forget!"
What comes to mind?

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase, "Never forget!"?

I remember these three first:

  • September 11
  • Space Shuttle Challenger
  • COVID Pandemic
  • What do you remember? (Go ahead and reply. I'd love to hear your thoughts.)

I'm sad when my children (now ages 29 and 25) reminisce about past family vacations and I reply, "We did that? I don't remember that." However, I do remember the time I booked a hotel in Orlando that my family refused to enter. The brochure didn't show the lobby with bars on the windows, and there was no scratch-n-sniff for the marijuana odor! We didn't stay there, but it's a great family vacation memory for us.

Jesus was frustrated and angry one day with his disciples. You can read about it in
Mark 8:1-21. Click this link to read it now. They were sailing across the sea of Galilee when they got hungry. They began to argue because no one brought any bread. Just a few days earlier Jesus had fed a crowd of 5000 from only a few loaves. Then he fed a crowd of 4000. After each miracle, they gathered bushels full of leftovers, and now the disciples are worried and arguing about what to eat. Jesus shouted, "Do you not remember anything?"

How quickly we forget God's blessings, power, forgiveness, and love.

Take time today to remember what God has done for you. If you can't think of anything, read Mark 8 and ask someone else to tell you what God has done for them. Give thanks to God. Never forget God's amazing deeds.

Pray with me, please:

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for loving all people, especially me. I know I have not obeyed you always and I have often forgotten your blessings. Fill me today with your Holy Spirit. Remind me of the purpose you have for me, and strengthen me to trust you to do your will through me. Thank you! In Jesus' name; Amen.
