Changed by Love
We are modified and changed in the hands of the One who loves us!
About ten years ago, I was looking at Auto Trader magazine, skimming through advertisements for used cars. I already had a car…so I didn’t need one. But I’ve always been a “car person.” So I looked through the pictures of shiny machines. And, as I looked through the ads, one picture nearly jumped off the page at me.
The picture was of a 2005 Ford Mustang. Ever since I was about 8 years old, I have dreamed of owning a Mustang. Over the years, the Mustang changed its appearance and evolved, but in 2005, they began to look once more like the Mustangs I remembered from my childhood.
I had collected Matchbox and Hot Wheels versions of the Mustang, and so, on this day in February of 2012, I found myself practically drooling over this well-kept red Mustang. I had recently gone through some major life changes, and was feeling a bi sorry for myself. So, I bought the Mustang.
I loved the car from the moment I first turned the key. And I set about making the car “mine.” Through a series of small modifications and some cosmetic changes, I eventually had a car that only slightly resembled the original. The car, in my hands, was different. It was MINE!
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
That’s the way it is with us.
Christ seeks us out, and purchases us with his life and love.
In Christ’s hands, we become new. We are changed, modified and loved into creations that are different than our former selves. We become HIS!
What changes has Christ made in you?
We are here to love God and all people so that all people may experience the
life-changing love of Jesus!
LOVE - We meet every weekend to experience God's love for us and show His love for others.
SERVE- We use our abilities, talents, skills, and passions for the good of others.
ENGAGE - We engage with friends to care for one another and to make new friends so they may experience God's kindness too.
I’d like to finish with this prayer for you:
Thank you, Lord God, for selecting us as your own. Give us the courage to yield to you as you change us from within.
all that You have planned for us. We rejoice that you are with us always.
