Training Wheels Off
Recently the weather was so nice, I decided to sit on my porch. I began to watch the neighborhood children riding their bicycles outside. It took me back to when I first learned to ride my “big girl bike”. My father had taken the training wheels off and I wasn’t really confident that I would be able to successfully maneuver what seemed to be an unstable bike. My father however, told me I could do it. I tried a few times by myself but I was unsuccessful. I kept saying I can’t do it. I remember him telling me, “yes you can, I’ll be right here holding on”. So I got back on my bike reluctantly and looked back at my dad and said, “you promise you’re not going to let go” and he said, “I promise I will be with you the whole time.”
I began to ride my bike again and this time as the bike seemed to sway a little to one side or another I could feel my dad helping me balance the bike. He was encouraging me the whole way. He kept saying you got it, keep going. I seemed to go a little faster and I felt nice and steady, but I then realized my dad was no longer holding on. He was running beside me. It reminds me how God is with us. He never leaves us. He holds us close when we need him most and
He is right there beside us all the other times. We are never alone. Isiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
