Telling Our Story
We all have a story to share!
When I was in college, I majored in English, with a concentration in Journalism. I wanted nothing more than to be a writer. Recently, I was reading an issue of Guideposts magazine, and an advertisement caught my attention. Readers are invited to submit an unpublished, short (1,500 words) story that tells of a life-changing experience. The stories will be reviewed by Guideposts staff. Some of those submitting stories will be chosen to attend a week-long writer’s workshop. Regular contributors to Guideposts will present the workshop, including some well-known writers.
I must confess that the idea appeals to me. I love to write and I love to tell stories. Like many of you, one of my favorite stories to tell is how God has changed me into the person I am today.
I remember hearing an old hymn when I was a child. It was called I Love to Tell the Story.
The chorus says:
I love to tell the story;
'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and his love!
Remember that you, too, have a story to tell. Have the courage to tell YOUR story. It may be life-changing for those who hear it.
We are here to love God and all people so that all people may experience the
life-changing love of Jesus!
LOVE - We meet every weekend to experience God's love for us and show His love for others.
SERVE- We use our abilities, talents, skills, and passions for the good of others.
ENGAGE - We engage with friends to care for one another and to make new friends so they may experience God's kindness too.
I’d like to finish with this prayer for you: Thank you, Lord God, for creating a story within each of us. Give us the courage to
share our story with others so that others may know the Good News of Jesus.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
