Are We Quick to Recommend Jesus?
Earlier today, I received a text message from a friend whose cat was sick. She was asking me the name and telephone number of my veterinarian, because she has heard me say how much I trust our vet, Dr. Scheiber, for advice and care for all of our pets. My friend told me that she had a call into a veterinarian that she’d used once, and that doctor wasn’t returning her call.
I quickly gave her the telephone number to our veterinarian, but I also started thinking…. Dr. Scheiber is so responsive to us because we have a long relationship. We have always taken our pets to her…. for the past 24 years. She knows us and she knows the level of care we give our four-legged family.
I wanted to help my friend. But it also made me think….when a friend has a problem of the heart or spirit, am I as quick to connect them to Jesus as I am to connect them to a veterinarian when their pet is ill? Even more than forming a relationship with a reputable veterinarian, I should be leading friends into relationship with the One who heals all ills.
May God give me the strength to do just that.
I hope you will join us this weekend, either online at ctcde.online.church at 9 or 11AM on Sunday, or in person in Bear at 6PM tonight or 9AM or 11 AM Sunday or at 11 AM Sunday at Elsmere.
We are here to love God and all people so that all people may experience the
life-changing love of Jesus!
LOVE - We meet every weekend to experience God's love for us and show His love for others.
SERVE- We use our abilities, talents, skills, and passions for the good of others.
ENGAGE - We engage with friends to care for one another and to make new friends so they may experience God's kindness too.
II’d like to finish with this prayer. Thank you, Lord God, for taking care of all my needs. Open the hearts and minds of those you would like me to encourage today, especially those to whom you are calling into a relationship with you. Speak their names into my heart, that I might lead them to your loving presence. In Jesus name, Amen.
