My best days start with a deep breath and as I exhale, I say, “Thank you, Jesus! Good morning!” I’m a bit embarrassed to say this because it’s so simple: “You can’t talk while inhaling.” My point is also simple, we can’t live life without first receiving it from God who breathes his own breath into us to give us life.

At creation, God breathed life into “the man.” That man first received the breath of God and only then could he breath out and speak. We don’t live life unless we first receive it from God. It’s a simple and powerful fact. (But some will argue that point with me.)
 
Here’s another time God breathed life back into dead and dry bones:
 
This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD. – Ezekiel 37:5-6
 
Take a deep breath right now. On the way out, let it say, “Thank you, Jesus!”Dear Jesus, after you were raised from the dead, you met with your disciples. You huddled them together and said, "Peace I give to you." and you breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." We can do nothing in any day without you giving us life every moment. Fill us today with your Holy Spirit so that the fruit of your presence will burst forth from our lives. In Your Holy Name we pray. Amen.
