Mustard Seeds
It's the little things...
On Wednesday evening, a few of us ventured out into a neighborhood near the Elsmere Campus. Our intention was just to connect with some folks and, hopefully get to know a few people and to share some of God’s love.
We met one young lady, and after talking with her, offered to pray for her, her family and her employment needs. A neighbor happened to be looking out of the window, and, as we were finishing, literally burst out of her home and asked for prayer!
Of course, we prayed with her, and afterward, she invited me into her home where she showed me a piece of paper upon which she had written, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
Then, she told me that she had gone to the grocery store and purchased a small jar of mustard seeds, so that she could understand just how small they were. She then poured some of the mustard seeds from her jar into a zip-loc bag and gave them to me….to help me remember it only takes a little faith to do great things.
I started out that journey with little faith.
But a mustard seed was all it took.
Sometimes the little things make a big difference.
By doing the littlest thing for someone else (praying), my faith grew that day, by leaps and bounds.
