You Can Plan on It!
God Has a Plan for You!
After I retired, I joined the staff at CtC. I figured my job would be typing, filing, making copies, etc. My background had been law. I was a paralegal and notary public for many years, so what could I possibly contribute to serving God using legal experience? Well, God's plan for me was to be Serving Ministries Director. Wow! God’s plan wasn't about my background in law at all but something else. That’s how God works.
Yesterday, I asked my friend and coworker April what is the plan of the group that meets at Elsmere Campus each Wednesday evening. Her response surprised me. She told me that the group would walk the streets, pick up trash, and talk with anyone willing. They set up a canopy in a park, gave out snacks and water to people. They had bubbles for kids and tossed footballs with other children. Certainly it was not the preconceived notion I had about sharing the good news of Jesus.
Ephesians 3:1-13 talks about God’s plan for people. He plans for “all people to share equally the riches inherited” by believing the message of Jesus. Paul had a plan for his work. God changed it. God has a plan for all people, and it may not look like we expect. God simply calls us to trust, follow, and obey.
So, what is our plan? It's something different for each of us, of course. It's what God leads us to do and He doesn't reveal that plan until the time is right.
When the time is right God reveals His plan, and gives each of us the tools to carry out His plan. Think about some of the serving opportunities you've participated in and around church and your communities. God gave you the skills to carry out the responsibilities. God spoke to your heart. God planned it.
Let’s continue to love, serve, and engage the world with the great message of Jesus. It’s God’s plan, all in God’s timing.
Lynne Poindexter
Director of Serving Ministries
Here is a prayer for you:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for all that You have done for us. We thank you for the knowledge, the insight, the love, and the tools we need to carry out the plans You have for us. When we fall short or become self-involved, help us to get back on track and put others' needs in front of our own. All of these things are part of Your plan for us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
We are here to love God and all people so that all people may experience the
life-changing love of Jesus!
LOVE - We meet every weekend to experience God's love for us and show His love for others.
SERVE- We use our abilities, talents, skills, and passions for the good of others.
ENGAGE - We engage with friends to care for one another and to make new friends so they may experience God's kindness too.
