In a rush of feelings, Sarah said to her fiancé Jake, a goalie for the city’s pro soccer team, “I will never break up with you!”

“What makes you so certain?” Jake asked with glad surprise.

“Because you’re a keeper!” (Insert bad Dad-joke groan!)

Romance is God’s idea, and that’s great news. God created us to live in loving relationships with other people and with God. Love is much more than a feeling in a moment, and sometimes the best love comes even when we don’t feel like it. But I am glad that God created us to experience love as an action as well as a feeling.

Love can also be painful, but that also is part of God’s plan for us. When the people we love get hurt, we feel sorrow and other emotions along with them. It’s all part of being human.

“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one an only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

God loves you!

At CtC we’re all about telling people of God’s love and helping one another live in the reality of God’s love every day. That’s not always easy, and we can’t do it alone. Let’s meet this weekend to encourage each other toward love and all good things.
