Jesus always gives us power.
Up a creek. No paddle.

Yesterday evening, I enjoyed a short kayak trip on the Christiana River, but it didn’t start out so pleasant. I almost was up a creek without a paddle. The last time I used my kayak, I thought, “Put everything inside the kayak so when you need it next, it will all be together.” Assuming I had done that, I lowered my kayak from it’s hooks in my garage. I slid it into the back of my van, and when I opened the van, I noticed that my paddle was still in the from my last trip. If I did not see it, I would have assumed it was still inside the kayak and I’d end up a creek without my paddle.

A paddle to a kayak is the primary tool for power. In Mark 6, Jesus sent out his disciples, two by two, and he gave them authority to cast out evil. Jesus never sends us to do a job without giving us the authority and the power to do it. Jesus sends us to do the same thing he does, as Mark 4:23 says, to teach, announce forgiveness, and heal all kinds of sickness and disease. Just like my kayak trip was beautiful because I had the power, life with Jesus is beautiful because of His power. By your trust in him, he fills you with purpose, power, and authority to do his will, which is good for you!
